Other 1 Corinthians Bible Studies & Background
We don't get a whole lot of this now, but maybe there are still ways the instructions apply.
1. What are some examples you've seen of puffed up Christians?
2. Replace "food sacrificed to idols" with Halloween to get a more modern understanding of this chapter. Some Christians believe witches and goblins have no power over us, and, therefore, there is no harm in celebrating Halloween (verses 4-8). Others believe by celebrating Halloween, we are giving honor to these things...maybe even a form of worship.
3. How does Paul say we should exercise our liberty in front of those who are "weak" in faith?
4. Does this say Halloween should not be celebrated even if the weak are not present? Why/Why not?
5. Does this chapter say you can't do anything that might be a stumbling block to a weaker believer? Why/Why not?
