Other 1 Corinthians Bible Studies & Background
If you're in a small group, don't expect to get through this chapter in one evening.
1. How many wives or husbands does Paul say we should have?
2. How do you feel verses 2-6 should be interpreted when one person doesn't feel like it? What does he mean concession...not command?
3. Do you feel Paul is recommending in verse 9 to marry in order to satisfy sexual desire? Why/Why not?
4. What do you feel are the Biblical exceptions to Paul's instructions not to separate? Find the Scriptures...this is a Bible study!
5. Look at vs 12-16. Does remaining married to a Christian make the non-believer a Christian anyway? Why/Why not?
6. Paul keeps going back and forth between speaking for the Lord and speaking for himself. When he's speaking for himself, do you feel this is still God's word because it's in the Bible?
7. Do you feel these instructions concerning celibacy (remaining unmarried) are required (for you, ministers, anyone) today?
8. In verse 39, is Paul saying we must marry only Christians?
